Durban Poison Strain Information:
Durban Poison is a pure South African sativa landrace with a threatening label that hints at its potent psychoactivity. It is a strong and sticky variety well suited to a number of increasing circumstances. Durban Poison has a THC content of between 15% and 25% .
Since at least the 14th century, cannabis has been developed mostly on African continent; it had spread south by the age of Dutch colonization, and the indigenous communities of Khoikhoi, San, and Bantu in South Africa had a developed culture and cultural acceptance of the plant, which they called dagga.
American breeder Ed Rosenthal selectively bred multiple plants in the late 1970s from a bag of South African seeds he carried back to the United States. In order to maximize the resin content and flowering time, Rosenthal then transferred some prime specimens on to fellow breeder Mel Frank, who fine-tuned the genetics. Frank’s attempts culminated in “A” and “B” lines of the original seed stock; Amsterdam breeder Sam the Skunkman was assigned the B line, which further shortened the flowering time of the variety.
Durban Poison’s buds are medium to wide in scale. While they have a thick, compact structure typical of the Indica varieties, sativas are more characteristic of their long and tapered form. Bright orange pistils are offset by forest green leaves, designed to capture pollen from male fertilizing plants. A covering of milky-white trichomes provides a soft sheen and an extremely sticky feel to the cured flowers. Classically, Durban Poison has a dank scent punctuated with traces of soft licorice. When torn open or burned, the flowers are pungent and skunky and giving away a heavy, lung-expanding smoke. On the exhale, the scent of licorice is clear, along with the flavor of sweet, almost cloying pine sap.
Durban Poison has a simple, centered elevation that instantly reaches users. Initially, the stimulation of sights and sounds can be disorienting, but can slip through an engaged, buzzy head high in the right setting. This strain can be especially beneficial for artistic endeavors, almost entirely intellectual with no hints of weakening heaviness or couch-lock. It is a perfect way to ponder the nuances of an intense movie or a piece of music. A good social lubricant can also be Durban Toxin, allowing smokers to feel chatty and more relaxed. This burden will confer a sense of understanding and benefit those continually disturbed by stress, anxiety, and PTSD. Any medical gain is more emotional than physical. It can also help maintain a deep, intense focus for those with attention deficit disorders. Durban Poison can also have some unpleasant side effects because it’s so potent and cerebral. It can bring users into overdrive, making them feel jittery or edge-like. It can also lead to a “mindrace” type of quick-association, making smokers feel paranoid or out of reach. Durban Poison is a quintessential wake and bake strain, certainly more appropriate for daytime than sleepy nighttime use. Usually, the height lasts between 2 and 3 hours.
Called after the second largest city in South Africa, Durban Poison provides an opportunity to appreciate one of the contributions of Africa to the panoply of powerful landrace strains worldwide. It has a sweet, hashy scent and a high content of resin that makes it particularly useful in processing THC concentrates such as shatter and wax. Durban Poison is also similar to espresso, offering consumers a smartphone and productive high that is as fun at a group as it is alone, doing imaginative or boring activities.

I’d say overall, this weed is my favourite. It does a good job of changing your perspective on stress and issues, almost as if they melted away or dissociated from you.
