About Gorilla Berry
Gorilla Berry is a sativa-leaning hybrid with some very illustrious parents. Bred by Valencia, Spain-based growers Sweet Seeds, this strain is a cross between the Thin Mint phenotype of Girl Scout Cookies and Gorilla Glue. Gorilla Berry brings smokers a rich, earthy flavor profile and an intense, multifaceted high. Her THC content has been measured at between 19% and 25%.
Gorilla Berry’s flowers are marked by a medium to large size and an elongated, tapered shape that calls to mind miniature cypress trees. These spindly buds have a seemingly hybridized structure, with a solid, indica-typical core but with long, wispy leaves that have more a fluffy sativa-like appearance. The leaves themselves are a pale shade of sage green and are offset by bright orange pistils. These bestial buds are finished off by a coating of cloudy white trichomes that make them sticky and tough to break up by hand.
A first whiff of Gorilla Berry’s buds may pick up on earthy scents like pine and dried leaves. A closer inspection might also detect some intensely sweet, almost fermented odors. Grinding up these flowers, meanwhile, yields the astringent odor of gasoline fumes. This diesel aroma becomes more pronounced when Gorilla Berry is combusted to yield a thick, acrid smoke that’s liable to tickle the sinuses of more sensitive consumers. On the exhale, this heavy smoke has a fruity, slightly skunky flavor.
Gorilla Berry doesn’t waste much time before her high comes lumbering in, sometimes hitting smokers before they’ve even finished coughing on the strain’s thick smoke. A sudden headrush may be accompanied by odd facial tics like a constricted feeling around the temples and lower forehead as well as some flushing in the cheeks. As these unfamiliar sensations die down, though, smokers shift into a new cognitive gear, with thoughts seeming to take on a new intensity or significance; concepts (or even inanimate objects) that might not otherwise hold much interest can suddenly become fascinating. Similarly, users may find their ideas bouncing around in a chain reaction of free associations. All this mental engagement can allow for extended productivity on complicated analytical tasks. Alternatively, it can serve as a pleasant social lubricant, sparking easy conversation even among new acquaintances.
After about an hour, this mental edge begins to give way to a palpable body stone. Smokers may feel their limbs and eyelids start to sag in equal measure and will want to seek refuge on the closest couch. While concentration and lucid conversation may still be possible at this point, consumers may lose some of their earlier motivation and may be more content to engage in passive activities like board games or binge-watching. If dosage is increased, these heavy physical effects can morph into total couchlock. Because of these eventually immobilizing effects, Gorilla Berry is recommended for late afternoon through evening use when she can be fully appreciated.
Gorilla Berry’s excellent balance of mental and physical effects can give the strain many applications for medical cannabis patients. Her laser-like focus can help those with attention deficit disorders to work on one task at a time. Additionally, the strain’s mood-boosting properties can bring temporarily relief to those suffering from mild to moderate stress or depression. Gorilla Berry can also soothe physical pain, whether it’s temporary and injury-related or due to chronic conditions like COPD or lupus. Anti-inflammatory properties, meanwhile, can address everyday discomfort like cramps and headaches. Because it comes with some risk of disorienting “mindrace,” Gorilla Berry may not be the best option for patients who are prone to paranoia or panic.
A potent strain with something for everyone, Gorilla Berry is worth sampling by both indica and sativa fans. If you’re breaking it out in public, though, be wary that this pungent strain can attract some unwanted attention.
