Purple Urkle Strain Information:
Purple Urkle cannabis strain is perhaps one of the most famous Indica strains around yet it’s origins are still mostly a mystery. What we do know is that the strain has been around since the 1980’s and was originally grown in the Emerald Triangle. It is regularly referred to as “Purple Urple” and occasionally “The Urkle”.
While most veteran cannabis growers in the Emerald Triangle region are generally tight lipped about their strain hybrids and genetics, most growers assume Purple Urkle cannabis was the offspring of either Mendocino Purps or Granddaddy Purple.
It’s effects, taste and smell are fairly consistent with most purple strains of marijuana when grown properly. Purple Urkle cannabis strain has a sweet and skunky smell generally containing the aromas of tropical fruit, grapes, fruity pebbles and skunk.
As with many heavy Indica strains it’s effects can be quite lethargic and relaxing making it an excellent strain for:
- pain management
- appetite stimulant
Due to it’s sedating effects it is best left for late evening or night time use. It has also been known to be a ‘two-hitter-quitter’ strain – meaning two hits is generally enough to get the full effects. With THC percentages well into the 20’s we would recommend lower doses to start, especially for novice users.
One of the strongest batches of gas I have ever tried from the Island Boys – Top Tier. Everything about this bag is eleven out of ten. The aesthetics are so mezmerising that it feels like a crime to bust the flowers up. The aroma is incredibly pungent and intoxicating that it overpowers the sinuses and the flavour follows perfectly along suit with aroma being a heavy and somewhat sour gas with a sweet inhale. Match all that delicious flavour with a bag full of large dense and very dank buds with incredibly healthy colours and a strong cerebral euphoria that hits fast and tends to linger and you’ve got yourself one heck of an impressive “couch lock” batch. I can’t say anything bad about this Purple Urkle at all. Burns very slow and consistent with quite a light ash which burns off a very light grey, almost silver colour. Now the buds themselves are made up of a beautiful lime green which you can barely see as the dark purple leaves cover the entirety of the buds which are completely frosted with large sugary and furry stalked trichomes. Amongst all the deep purple leaves are thick patches of long reddish orange hairs that seem to wrap them all together in harmony. The attention to detail from the Island Boys has always impressed me and hopefully they just continue to do so because they have truly outdone themselves with this batch.
