The Most Common CBD Myths
CBD is a trend that everyone wants to get on board with, but it’s also the subject of a lot of debate. Canadians are familiar with what cannabidiol is and its many benefits. But that doesn’t mean everything said about CBD is true.
In this article, we are going to layout the most common CBD myths and try to debunk them. With all that said, let’s start.
Myth Number 1: CBD Gets You High
It’s understandable why one might think that CBD can get you high. CBD does in fact come from hemp and marijuana. The latter is used by millions of people for recreational purposes, of which getting high is one of those purposes. The reason why is because marijuana contains THC. That’s not to say that hemp doesn’t contain THC, but in much smaller quantities.
CBD in Canada is derived from hemp. All CBD products cannot contain more than 0.3% THC. This is nowhere near enough to get a person high.
Myth Number 2: There’s Very Little Research Around CBD
CBD hasn’t simply appeared the moment Canada legalized it. People have been taking marijuana for thousands of years. But the common myth that there isn’t much research around CBD is simply not true.
Granted, there is still research to be done but we know so much from it. We know that CBD in Canada can be best used to help in the management of numerous conditions. More so, there are countless studies conducted on CBD and how it interacts with the endocannabinoid system.
Although a big portion of these studies have been done on rats, researchers believe that CBD is very beneficial for humans, and what the results say is in fact true.
Myth Number 3: Taking CBD Once In A While Is Enough
Although each person decides how much they want to take and how often, in order for CBD to be effective you need to take it daily. But the effectiveness might even depend on how much of it you take.
Researchers are torn on this one. Some say that 20 milligrams are enough while others say that for CBD to be effective Canadians need to take 10 milligrams per kilogram of weight. If let’s say you weigh 75 kilograms then that means you’ll have to take up to 750 milligrams of CBD per day!
But let’s be real about it; no one has the money to buy 750 milligrams of CBD oil every day. What we can be real about is the fact that you need to take your CBD daily for it to be effective.
Myth Number 4: All CBD Products Are the Same
This is absolutely incorrect. Not every CBD product is made the same because various CBD products are made differently. More so, other factors play a huge role in deciding how these products are made.
In order to make a CBD product, we have to first extract the CBD from the hemp. As one might suggest, we can do that using a couple of methods. What Canadians need to know is that some methods are very much dangerous and harmful. This results in a bad product that can cause all sorts of problems.
If you want the best CBD product, then you have to make sure that the CBD has been extracted using the CO2 extraction method. This method ensures safety and quality throughout. Other methods, such as steam distillation and solvent extraction can be potentially dangerous due to the involvement of chemicals.
But we’re not done yet. Before you buy a CBD product, take the time and ask for 3rd party lab results. These results tell us exactly what the product is and of what quality the CBD is. It also shows exactly how much CBD the product contains. Lab results are also required if a CBD seller wants to sell on the Canadian market.
So if you would buy two oils from two different sellers, there is a chance that both products are made differently.
Myth Number 5: CBD Has No Side Effects
This one is also not true but to a degree. Taking CBD can develop side effects, but it depends on other factors. It mostly depends if you’re taking something else at the same time.
Even if you aren’t taking anything else, CBD does indeed develop side effects. Although these vary from person to person, common side effects include drowsiness, vomiting, and nausea. We should point out that even if there are side effects, these rarely develop.
Myth Number 6: Hemp Seed Oil and CBD Oil Are the Same Thing
While most Canadians know about Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and CBD Isolate, there is another type of oil that comes from hemp.
Hemp seed oil is rarely talked about. This is because hemp seed oil isn’t as popular. But it should be said that hemp seed oil and CBD oil are two different things. Although both come from hemp, we make CBD oil by extracting cannabidiol from the leaves, stalks, and flowers of the plant. Hemp seed oil, on the other hand, is an oil made exclusively from the seeds of the hemp plant.
What you get with hemp seed oil are beneficial nutrients. These include the likes of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, etc. What you don’t get with this oil is CBD.
Myth Number 7: CBD Works the Same For Everyone
This is absolutely not true as we know that CBD interacts with everyone differently. This has to do with an individual’s endocannabinoid system. It also depends on what you’re using it for and your genetics.
Some use CBD oil for a laid-back experience while others to alleviate pain or reduce stress. But the endocannabinoid system has the biggest say in all this. Some Canadians may require more CBD to experience the effects, others not so much. If your endocannabinoid system needs more support, then you will need more of it to feel the effects.
Conclusion
While there are plenty more myths regarding CBD, these are the most common ones. We know the facts based on what people say and what the research says. But it’s safe to say that once we know more about it, the whole truth will come to light.
